Class 158 DMU
Services on the Tarka Line are operated by 2 types of Diesel Multiple Unit (Or DMU), The Class 158 (Left), & The Class 150 (Below). Introduced in September 1990, they have seen service throughout the UK, in places as far afield as Scotscalder & Barnstaple. They replaced many of British Railways older first-generation DMU's. They are currently in service with Transport for Wales, Great Western Railway, East Midlands Railway, Northern Trains, Scotrail, & South Western Railway.

Class 150
The Class 150 DMUS, AKA Sprinter DMUS, were built by British Rail at York Carriage works between 1984-87 for regioanl use on services throughout the UK. First came 2 prototype units, then 135 production units in 2 batches. More members of the "Sprinter" family have subsequently been produced, including the classes 155*, 156, 158 (Above), & 159. The 150 units are currentley opperated GWR, Northern, & TfW. They briefley worked service with LNWR on the Marston Vale Line, but LNWR replaced them with class 230 Battery EMUS
